Cincinnati

Here’s what I knew about Cincinnati before we arrived:

  1. It’s in Ohio.
  2. WKRP is here.
  3. It must be somewhat big because it has both a professional baseball and football team.DSC_0885
  4. It’s home to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center which also happens to be the reason we are here. Don’t feel bad if you didn’t know this fact, I only recently learned it.DSC_0411DSC_0657DSC_0522
  5. Ummm. That’s it. I’ve got nothing else.

Here’s what I’ve discovered about Cincinnati since we arrived:

  1. It’s gorgeous. Wow, the skyline!
  2. The architecture is diverse and intriguing.DSC_0674
  3. There are a lot of parks, monuments, and museums.DSC_0703
  4. It has great food.
  5. It’s very clean, at least the parts we visited.
  6. The city is supportive of diversity.DSC_0685
  7. It’s right on the border with Kentucky and they are separated by the Ohio River. This means there are many interesting bridges connecting the two states. (Mr. C took this photo!)DSC_0733
  8. Its nickname is the Queen City. There is a fabulous sign downtown that beckons to children of all ages to practice their climbing skills. I’m pretty sure Mr. C climbed on each letter.DSC_0453
  9. Cincinnati’s sister city is Munich, Germany. There’s a section of the Berlin Wall on display near the waterfront. You can touch it!DSC_0439
  10. We need more time here.
  11. Let me say it again – absolutely gorgeous city. You should visit! Barnaby agrees.DSC_0802

  1. Fascinating! It would not have been my first pick for a destination (or second, or third!) but you’ve opened my eyes!
